Our Process
Purpose
The purpose for this SOP is to give an understanding of the degree of excellence Comfort By Design expects from its installation department. This step by step guide will outline what is to be done from arrival at the office to the end of the work day for both the team members.
Equipment Loading
Both team members should inspect all equipment and materials to ensure there is no damaged items. Check to see if all equipment is correct according to the paperwork from the job. Ensure that there are no missing items from the supply house order sheet. If there are missing or damaged items inform the install manager.
Call ahead
Enter address into GPS (or check your map book if your old school) so that you can find out approximate time of arrival. After an estimate has been made proceed to call your home owner and inform them of your arrival time. If for any reason this can not be accomplished by 9 am you need to call and inform them of your delay. Keeping a customer informed is top priority in keeping them happy.
First contact
After introductions are made team members should initiate a walk through with home owners and discuss the job in detail to ensure we are all on the same page. Verify all equipment and the location you are installing it before any work is done.
Preparation
Lead is to perform an air flow check (when applicable) of old equipment, be sure to ask the home owner if there were any particular vents that had poor airflow.
Helper is to cover the carpet in plastic or drop cloths from the designated entry point to the work area. If there is any area where drywall will be cut use drop cloths to ensure affected area including furniture is properly protected.
Installation
Unload the truck, collect equipment model and serial numbers, unbox and inspect for any damage. Keep equipment box’s to dispose trash. Remove all old equipment and place next to or behind truck, it is important to keep the homeowners house as clean as possible. Proceed with the installation of equipment, if there are issues that could stop any part of the installation from proceeding as planned (humidifier won’t fit, not enough time to complete) contact the comfort consultant or installation manager before proceeding.
Walkthrough
Lead is to test all equipment to ensure proper operation and preform air flow check (when applicable) INSPECT all the work performed on the job to minimize code corrections. Walk through the installation with homeowner to insure they understand the operation of there new system. Fill out paperwork with homeowner, get inspection dates.
Clean up the job site and load the truck.
